Suburban Sketchers

I’ve been enjoying suburban sketching with a group from the art league for Germantown run by Katarina Öberg.  Don't you notice people do less creative things as entertainment surrounds us, or maybe the creative drain is from age? The sketching group forces members, or maybe gives a timed excuse, to sketch like we did years ago. Like exercise it's hard at first but gets easier and rewarding.

Most everything I do is in pen. It's liberating to not be able to second guess a line -- like you do with a pencil. A ball-point pen with thick ink allows more levels of contrast compared to a thin dye-like ink that is either there or not.
